Boss' Blanket

My boss asked me to make her a blanket. She came in with sample patterns of granny square blankets she wanted. We picked one that was an intermediate skill level. She picked the yarn and colors from Hobby Lobby to match her guest room (which turns out to be Christmas colors - I guess she could use this throw as duel purposes then). Not a fan of the granny square technique. It took my 20-30 minutes each square! I guess when they say 'intermediate' they mean time-wise and not skill level. It was an easy pattern, but took too long to do. I will have to add granny squares to my list of "I will never do this again" projects. Among that list are doilies. Will never do one of those again either.

Fingerless Gloves

Freakin' cold at work! Whipped these up in an evening to keep my hands warm but my fingers still free to type away. Pattern came from the One Skein Wonder book, but you can find one similar on Lionbrand's site. Pattern #: 60158AD.

The Six Hour Throw

Again, this was another really great, fast, and easy pattern to follow from Lionbrand.com! You use US50/25mm needles with four strands of category five thickness yarn (in this case Homespun). It calls for eight skeins total. You don't use all of the yarn to get the size they state in the pattern, so you can go a little wider and longer in the pattern even! Really soft and warm, and it REALLY took less than six hours.

Thick 'n Quick Neck Cowl

Lionbrand.com has some of the best free patterns available on their site. I'm trying to get rid of the scraps of yarn leftover still. This was an easy way to get rid of the thicker yarn that wouldn't be enough to do a full scarf or anything else really. A nice neck cowl worked out! Really soft and warm! I like the neck cowls because they work as a scarf and a hood. You just pull it up over your head when you need it as both.

Star Wars hats

A coworker of mine is a real nerd for Star Wars. He and his wife are expecting their fourth child. So, I thought it would be cute to make a R2D2 and Yoda hat! Check them out! Can't say these ideas are totally original. I got inspiration from other online sources (example one, example two). Still having some problems with gauging hat sizes with different ages... I found this link that might help me in the future.

St. Patty's Day Shrug

I followed a pattern from LionBrand's site, however, I didn't read the reviews before I started. Always read them before doing any of their patterns. Shrug is a little snug. Not as baggy as the one in their photo. I might try it again and just wing it on my own... but we'll see.

In Da Hood

Bought a great book recently that's great for the folks who love to buy typical and non-expensive yarns from hobby stores or even Wal-mart! It's titled something like "Best of the Worsted."
